Particularly for me as my Dad was there in the same campaign.
Like a lot rarely spoke about the war but, as a territorial, he was one of the first in and not out till peace was declared.
For a non religious man used to go to a service on remembrance day for a good few years after as he told me he lost six of his best mates at Monte Cassino, which means in the space of about 5 days.
