I don't, but let me explain why.

Not one of his points re. the Great Barrier Reef and the rainforests are within the control of the UK government.

By all means protest for change, but don't blame the UK government not doing enough to save those things.  Target the right governments and corporations - like China...

Who is going to take the case to foreign governments if it’s not our government? They stay silent for the sake of political expediency and trade deals rather than make the hard choices .

Not this government, that's for sure. All they manage to do is completely fail to meet their own weak targets.

Instead they could pour investment into renewable energy, rather than waiting for other governments to do it for them. The worst case there would be, we'd have cheap renewable energy. The best case would be leading the world in renewable technology.

Instead they've cut investment and incentives, good job.

The protests are coordinated worldwide. We, and others, can and do put pressure on foreign govts to act on climate change, making them commit to sustainability programs before we buy their products, for instance.

Saying "there's nothing we can do" has always been one of the biggest problems which was coincidentally highlighted in the David Attenborough program that, by chance, was on the beeb last night.

It's as much about getting into the news and the public consciousness and making everybody sit up and take notice.

I'm not saying there's nothing we can do, far from it, but seeing as most people here believe that our influence in the world is negligible outside of a large organisation like the EU, wouldn't it there make more sense to either campaign outside the Chinese embassy or the EU parliament?

Wouldn't that use a lot of extra fuel and contribute to global warming? :)

Probably less than it took Emma Thompson to fly five and half thousand miles to join the protest...

There have been protests all around the world, including China. The pressure comes from pushing all govts - even ones that are seemingly progressive on climate issues.

In some ways the Chinese are ahead of us in embracing radical change. They are switching over to electric vehicles en masse and renewable energy sources. They are still heavy coal users because they still can't meet the heavy power demands of their massive industries.

You always ask for a helicopter when giving ransom demands. It's the law.
