The price of a pint where you live

So, there's a pub in Borough Market charging £13. 40 for a pint. The article also says the average cost of a pint in London is £4.99. I had no idea it cost so much. I've not been in a pub for at least a decade.
So, how much is a pint where you are?

I think some of the "nicer" places down here charge £5 a pint now!

I'm going out with an old school mate sat night, I rarely go out these days so no doubt I'll get a nasty shock and will let you know :(

Average price of a pint in Essex is around £3.60 up to £3.95 depending on what real ale, and what pub. (it is higher here than the UK average).

The lowest average pint in the UK is £3.32 according to the internet, though I have been in Weatherspoons pubs who buy in bulk, and can be as low as £2.15 for a pint of real ale. Shows that a bulk buying chain of pubs, gets better discount over a small independent pub.

PS....I was paying £3.50 for a 'schooner' of beer in Sydney last week, which is only 2/3rds of a UK pint.

In the lovely town of Bracknell at my local it's about £4.50 a pint, however if you to the more "local"  local, Whetherspoons it's about £3.50

These days I tend to go on "nights out" when the company is paying ;)

I had to check this as I mostly drink at home these days and pretty well any good real ale is available in 500ml bottles for around £1.50.

A decent real ale in a pub I wouldn't object to sitting in is around £3.00.
You can pay more depending on where you are and there are obviously brews that will cost you well north of that.

You can get Gnat's p*ss lager as low as £1.50 in places I wouldn't walk my dog past.....and student venues which amounts to the same thing.

Lol, I went to my mate's, we went to his mate's where we had food and a couple of beers. Waited for a couple more ppl to get there, they didn't arrive till 10, so we did s few shorts, 23:00 they were ready to hit the town. They got a taxi to a club, I walked home. (Only 30 min walk)

They don't have kids, it was already gone my bed time :)

So I spent a fiver, and got to chat with my mate and his mates I didn't know. So for me a good night :) no doubt if I had gone out I would have

A) moaned about entrance fee
B) moaned about drink prices
C) moaned about being tired
D) moaned about the music being crap
E) moaned about not being able to hear anyone

I think I made the right decision :)

Agree about high noise levels in these central city pubs, I had to give up at one of these workmate leaving parties as it was impossible to talk. Just shook hands and left.

I prefer a traditional pub, with just light background music, and billiard balls knocking away in the background, with the occasional gaming machine paying out, and a sleeping dog at the hearth.
