"I get daily updates from the FTA and that's the first I've heard of any 'pop ups'. The Government might have only revealed it recently but they would have (should have) consulted with the FTA first."

Road Haulage Association chief executive Richard Burnett said:

"With only 38 working days to go until we leave the EU, it is essential that information is delivered in a clear and concise way. Traders, haulage operators in particular, simply don’t have time to digest and implement the small print. They need to know, right now, how to get through the next few months. It is imperative that the entire supply chain understands what will be required. This campaign will ensure hauliers get everything they need from traders to get through border customs smoothly, thereby reducing the risk of holdups at ports and ferry terminals."

"Also, it seems the Libs Dems have re-branded themselves the stop Brexit' Party, which could very well be the saving or undoing of the party at the next GE. Hell of a bamble, but their performance at any election would be very revealing, one way of another."

They'll lose Swinson at the next election, she's played right into Sturgeon's Conservative-hating hands.  Not to mention that the Lib Dems already had PPC's in those seats, and has p***ed them off, plus the resignation of the chair of the Liberal Democrat LGBT wing with the arrival of Phillip Lee.

Now as a Conservative supporter I know the hyperbole is not a true reflection of us, but I'm guessing these defectors and Swinson will feel that strength of feeling shortly.

Glad that caller knows more than everyone else and all the planning and space being set aside won't be required.
I saw lots of those signs too snaps, I went to and from Bristol yesterday.  Along the lines of you may need different/extra paperwork from 1st November.  No actual information though - probably because they still don't really know - unlike that caller.

Yep, got that this morning, but it sounds like the knowledgeable caller has got his wires crossed. The 150 pop-up centres planned will be offering advice only, and will be across 10 countries, not just in the UK, which means we'll probably get 10-15 in impractical locations. There's nothing in that Gov release that indicates that any freight clearance or customs procedures will be carried out anywhere else but at points of departure/arrival, which has been the case for quite some time. Anyone who works or has worked at Dover in any professional capacity would know this.

European Parliament has just voted 544-126 in support of UK being given an article 50 extension should the request be made.
Plenty of time to sort out a GE and handle the aftermath then.

There's a surprise...despite all the rhetoric to the contrary...

I know, it's almost as if they were trying to gee us up to sorting a deal out, but now that's transparently unlikely, they're more than willing to give us more time.

Weird.

And there was me thinking they had better things to do than wait for us to decide what to do.

It's almost like they really don't want us to leave...

If any of you have the time and interest I'd strongly recommend watching The Rise of the Nazis on beeb iplayer.
The parallels are startling.
