General Forum
In another discussion forum we started to talk about rum to knock ourself to dreamland. What's your poison? True I haven't touch rum in years as a drink., but have use it in baking yummy but didn't get knock out.One of my favorite drink is call seventy seven mmm nice, and wine like a white or rose nice.😉
I'm not an expert (yet) but I like whisky, tend to wait until something has about £10 knocked off to give it a go :) So far I'm not too keen on peated, maybe when I grow up ;)
currently on the go I have a Cardhu gold reserve which is very nice, smooth, and sweet, and Glenfiddich 12 year old, which is nice, a classic :)
I recently dabbled in some US whiskies, JD, Bulleit, and Bulleit Rye. JD I think is overrated, it's ok with coke, but I can't help but think if Lemmy, Slash et al hadn't been seen swigging it, it wouldn't be so popular.
Bulleit is nice, quite smooth, actually prefer the regular version to the rye one, regular is good neat, or with a mixer, rye one a bit harsher so needs a mixer.
Woodford reserve and Gentleman Jack are on special offer in Tesco at the mo, so I might pick up a bottle of each of them to add to my queue :)

Can't go wrong with a decent real ale but if we're talking shorts then I'm afraid I'm in there with the Keith Richards crowd on JD but I'm just as happy with Jim Beam. I haven't experimented much further with other Bourbons but will do.
That's just with ice BTW. Can't stand the idea of ruining it with Coke.
The JD Honey I could guzzle all night (That's a drink before all the Fnaar Fnaar starts)
Incidental lovely comment on Lemmy I read in one of his obits that in the last years he switched to Vodka and orange as he thought it was healthier.Â

I am not young enough to know everything.
Talking about American booze, I do like Jack Daniels, and love Southern Comfort straight in the glass, no dilution.
Though both have recently got very expensive in the UK.
(since the Brexit excuse for raising prices of many food and drink items by up to 20%)
Even my favorite sweet, one each for my nephew and nieces when they visit, is a Cadbury's Froddo bar, has went from 25p to 30p this week, a rather big increase for such a small chocolate bar (three mouthfuls and its gone).
Real ale, home brew.
Scotch or vodka shots. Vodka stored in the freezer of course. Bailey's at Christmas.
Admars, try the peaty whisky with a little water.

Real ale can be hit and miss here in the UK using hops or barley.
That's why I ask for a small taster glass first before buying a pint.
The names are amazing, and can be as entertaining as the drink itself....(examples)
- 1) Bishops Finger:Â
- 2) Arrogant Bastard Ale.
- 3) Dogs Bollocks:
- 4) Buttface Ale..
- 5) Kiltlifter:

tried different ones with a drop of water, with ice etc, can't get past that medicine taste :(
As for real ales, when it comes to beer, that or Erdiner Weissbier is what I like. There's a few new pubs near me doing proper small brewery real ales, which happily give you a taster, and the staff know their stuff, so give you a good description of the beers, or steer you in the right direction if you tell them what you like :) Prices varies though, one near me is great £3.20 pint from a microbrewary, another prices start at £5.00 :( And then the cost of the pints in the pubs vary, you get some crazy strong ales, with crazy high prices :(
