It just beggars belief that a failed businessman was able to commit an act like this on non-descript evidence, an act that has p***ed off Russia but pleased Israel & Iraq, whatever you want to make of that, and basically opened the planet wide for retaliatory attacks from any sympathetic mind.

Moron.

Only time will tell what will happen, maybe nothing, Iran is not that strong right now.

They don't need to be. I'm sure there will be one or two who would be willing to take it upon themselves to act 'in the name of....'

And to think the terrorist threat was only just downgraded

They will definitely retaliate. Saw a Channel 4 news clip which suggested Iraq might well throw out the 5000 American troops who remain there (Iraq now has close ties with Iran). They could possibly block the Straits of Hormuz: instant oil crisis. And what makes it bad for us is that Dominic 'out of his depth' Raab was informed before the attack what was going to happen and didn't explicitly criticise it making us virtually complicit. We may well be targets.

Trump's just had a short and scripted press conference where he basically said he ordered the assassination as Soleimani was actively plotting against the US and was responsible for the torture & murder of his own citizens.

So nothing like North Korea or Saudi Arabia then?

He also said he took the action to stop a war, not start one.

And thus spake the several-times bankrupted businessman who is obviously much more of a worldly-wise international diplomat then we previously thought.

</sarcasm>

If it starts a war or enough of a conflict he can then start mouthing off that this is no time for an election with the country under threat.
So starts the dictatorship.

I'll be delighted to swallow any amount of humble pie if I'm proved wrong as the world will be a safer place if I am.

I suspect in a few months time we will barely remember this beyond a thing amongst the many things Trump has done.

Unless the Russians are truly annoyed about it, in which case we'll see wee-gate.

Is anyone actually 100% certain this thing exists?

Given the levels of deepfakes and fake news in general does it really matter anymore?
As long as enough people can be persuaded it's real.
