Freely admit it's all ifs and buts.
As far as hanging on and disputing the result. How long did the whole 'hanging chad' fiasco go on and it was only really when Gore conceded that it came to an end. He could have fought that decision much longer.

Oh and presumably due to all the stage whispers of recession over there the dollars back out 3 cents to 1.23 to the pound. Certainly can't be due to Johnson's European jaunt.

Hurricane Dorian is about to hit Puerto Rico (which is Puerto Rico's fault, if you listen to Trump), and the Trump administration has decided to move $271 million to fund the construction of more concentration camps across the border with Mexico.

So, within that very article:

Jessica Vaughan, director of policy studies for the Center for Immigration Studies, who is in regular discussions with the administration, said the transfer of funds is necessary because ICE is so over budget from the border crisis. It has to find the money from somewhere because Congress hasn't given it what it needs, she said.

"ICE's priority caseload is growing, but the Democratic majority in the House does not support the level of enforcement that they consider to be the bare minimum for public safety and maintaining the most basic integrity of the law," she said.

"The border influx has strained ICE capacity," she said. "Under the law, their detention capacity is set by Congress. They have to balance the criminal cases, border cases and other priorities like worksite operations and fugitives. And on top of that some people are mandatory to be detained, such as aggravated felons and prior deportees."

Now this is either true or not true, I don't follow (or want to follow) US politics that anally - but whether it is or not, the solution seems obvious to me.

The Senate should review the budgets for DHS and FEMA and then adjust accordingly.  I'm not sure that money should've been removed from FEMA, but seems to me that there appears to be shenanigans on both sides and that similar to prorogation of Parliament, this is a shock move to spur the Democrats into action.

This is NOT tacit approval for this action by Trump on my behalf.

Which have been severely curtailed by the trillion dollar tax breaks Trump gave to his billionaire friends. The US is hemorrhaging money directly into the pockets of the disgustingly wealthy. Jeff Bezos alone could purchase Greenland himself, but aside from that, US churches receive over $80 billion a year.

The money is there, it always has been, but the US model dictates it's all about personal wealth rather than universal wellbeing. And Mr T is the absolute personification of that ideal.

Interesting Slate piece, in which Trump's acts & actions this week alone are compared to all reasons given for the impeachments of Nixon, Clinton & Johnson.
