Do you pay monthly? You could probably ring anytime to cancel then. :)

Yes and I probably could.
Ironically it's not even my vehicle it's my wife's.
Mine's a settle car, rented on a weekly basis for work.
I'm not even on her insurance as private hire drivers seem one step away from getaway drivers in the insurers risk lists.

Replacing my licence, bank/c'cards and the occasional 'Oh that was in it as well' have taken priority after my wallet was nicked on the Rome metro a couple of weeks back.

Good tip No1.....I was like yourself and carried much documentation in my wallet, but after losing my wallet last year (don't ask), and amazingly was returned intact by a good person, I now carry minimal items in my wallet. Cash, Rescue card for van, and two bank cards only, that can be closed down with a phone call.

Good tip No2..Now have RF metal shielded wallet for contactless bank cards. I did not ask for contactless due to the RF grabbing by thief's, but banks are rolling out these cards as standard now, and can no longer just get 'pin code only' cards.

I had relatively minor stuff in it.
3 cards cancelled within an hour of it going.
The other stuff is just irritating as you don't realise till you look for it. Just discount cards and National Trust card etc. No cost involved in replacing just irritating.

What peed me off most was I never carry cash in the wallet but as we were on the way to the airport just this once I did. Bye bye £150.00.
Still I've managed 67 years without being dipped before.

Barcelona is notorious for pickpockets, and when we were on the train into the city, there was a commotion as a pickpocket got a tourist and heard people running through the carriages. The Cathedral was surrounded by police motorbikes, assume to prevent these pickpockets.

Seems its a career for pickpockets in that city. I as well aware of the situation there, via trip adviser website, and wore an ankle wallet.

I hate phoning up these ppl but glad I did, lady at AA knocked off loads of money.

the lady with Bell was really good - she went through the policy saying do you actually do this many business miles, this many personal miles, do you still need this person on the cover etc, and got the price down back to a reasonable level!

I thought insurance companies wanted loyal mugs, I mean customers. It was my belief that they'd always match a lower quote.

I was with Admiral for the last few years until today. Last year they quoted me £600 Fully comp, but got down to under £500 after I did a comparison, and that was around £30 near the lowest quote, so I stuck with them.

Today they quoted me £550, and I shopped around and found Hastings offering a similar policy for just over £300. They couldn't get close, even increasing my excess left a £150 gap.

I remember one time they matched a quote, but two other times they came back with a more expensive one and tried to convince me that the benefits they gave were worth the extra money. Now I don't even bother when they ask if they can try to find a better quote for me.

If you buy car insurance through confused.com, which I did for my Daughters recent car purchase, I went for one of the lower quotes for her, (not the lowest, as I wanted a known car company rather than a dubious one) and she also got a free £20 petrol voucher from confused, as that's their deal at the moment if you buy a quote.
