Page 1 of buying rail tickets online

i have bought tickets online before, a few months ago. but that was just for me, i now need to buy three, for myself and my parents. when i booked the ticket last time i remember reading, that if you had a printout for your ticket the details had to match those on the credit card, i had the normal tickets as i chose to have them delivered before travelling, and on the train they were just stamped. does that only apply if your ticket is a printout?

i wanted to now if i can buy more than one ticket in one go, or would i have to create separate accounts online for them? i could go to the train station to get them, but i found this way pretty good. cheers.

I use trainline, usually plotting several different varients of the journey (singles or return, travel at different times & how much cheaper is it if I took one of the kids & used the family railcard) at the same time & choosing my final journey from the checkout.

When you select a return fare, check out the option two singles could be considerably cheaper, also if your parents are eligible for a senior citizens railcard (as we found out with buying a family railcard) the cost of that can easily be recouped on the first trip.

Ticket collection - You use the CC\debit card & reference number that you paid with to collect at a fastticket booth (if there`s one nearby), thats the only time your payment details are required. Elsewhere its the PO delivering the tickets to your address.

Tickets to go to different addresses, then you would need to book each journey individually & then pay specifying different delivery addresses from the one account.



I consider myself an optimist, albeit an optimist with cynical tendencies and a dark side that Lucifer himself would find a little creepy. (Perhaps you've noticed.) You don't normally associate cynicism with an upbeat pov. But I have exactly that combination and will defend it.

i will take a look later on today. they got their senior citizens rail cards the other day. thanks again.

Trainlines a godsend, I was able to book (at short notice) the rail part of the journey "home" of the return trip to the UK in April, with a UK debit card & was able to pick up my tickets at Gatwick.

I also used trainline to book up my weekly commutes (6 - 12 weeks in advance) to Kent fom Devon when I was working away from home.
