Tent advice.

The original 42pcenter MD (Elite) posted this on Monday, 6th August 2007, 10:50

Ok, I am off to reading this year and I want to get a tent.

I need: Light, 3 man, porch, easy to put up and if at all possible a well funky design. I don`t want to buy utter crap, but don`t need something that will keep me alive in the Arctic. Something that will put up with the best of British summer. There seem to be plenty of tents to fit this (not funky) at around the £45-50 mark. Does anyone have any experience of any brands?

I know it should not come in to it, but I just don`t like the look of it.

They do a "paint-your-own" tent too...that might be better. Yours will be the only big red codpiece there!

Millets really will be your best bet whatever you end up getting - and they`ve got a sale on.

Tescos are having a fire sale on outdoors stuff at the moment. It wouldnt let you go to the pole or make you irresistable to women, but it will do you for a few drunken nights at a festival.

I had a Tesco tent for download festival this year, was 4 man. Admittedly the zip did break but that was due to a cack handed mate, otherwise it was fine for 4 nights and only cost £40. Also note, 4 man = 3 man in this case, no way could you fit anyone else in, decent size for 3.

With everything that goes on at festivals I wouldn`t buy anything expensive
