badboybez (Elite) posted this on Tuesday, 19th December 2006, 22:26

Ok had this unit from Tesco a while and all was Ok - yet tonight set it to record `Worst Xmas` and it ain`t worked. Can see that the program is on the disc but when I want to finalise it or just even play it comes up `invalid disc`! F***ing typical.
So if anybody is/has recordeing the 3 parter any chance of me getting a copy?? I`ll pay!!

P***ing Lite-on bag of cheap s***e >:(

Ckikey! My Dad has just bought this player from his local Tesco store. I was round my parents house today and he was showing me this player and it looked like a good `un! Is this going to go baps up in the not too distant future? Hope not....I was thinking of getting one myself!

I swear someone was buying one of these in Tesco yesterday,as I was getting me absolutely superb goat`s cheese and grilled veg sarnie. :x
I had a wee sn***** to myself.
Was actually on the tip of my tongue to say "ditch that pile of s***e mate",but he`ll find out soon enough.

No idea how much it was,but are they really that much cheaper than a reputable, reliable make such as Panasonic ??? :/

I find it hard to have sympathy for any impulse supermarket buyer of AV goods though.
Unless they`ve done research beforehand that is,but that`s doubtful.

There always were issues with the quality of the components used in Liteon`s recorders.

However,
a) they have now pulled out of the market completely and will probably disappear from the shelves by Easter,
b) regular firmware updates help to solve little niggles, and
c) Every Liteon DVD Recorder comes with a free 2 year warranty, so you just send it back every time it goes wrong and get it fixed for nought.

I think those recorders are selling for £60-£70 in Tescos. Cheapest Panny I`ve ever seen (in rock bottom sale) was a ton. But you`re right - most people just impulse buy in a supermarket without doing any research first.

hmm, maybe i`m just lucky (& i assure you i am not :( ) but i`ve been very very impressed with mine, & the wifes been recording to it pretty much every day, & given the media types it can play/record to, ie

plays xvid/divx

records to
+r
+rw
-r
-rw
dual layer :D

£67, !!!!!!!!!

& that replaced my panny dmr e30 which cost nearly £500 & only recorded to -r & ram (tho, granted, the panny got well & truly hammered for a number of years)

but still £67 !!!!!!!! & it`s tesco`s, if you decide ya don`t like it, or it goes tits up, just ghet yer money back :)

oh, & it`s multi region to boot as well :)

tbh, Every recorder has a brand it disne like, dunno why, the panny could be really fussy in the early days of dvd-r, i remember buying a full spindle of 4x datawrite "reds" the panny would just lock up :( thats not a reflection on the panny tho, the disc`s where just s***e & they where the first affordable 4x discs available ;)

are you using r or rw discs ? i got 20 traxdata +rw`s & they have been mustard :) (so far) thats one huge advantage ram has over rw, the caddy version is f***ing bullet proof & lasts forever, pity you can`t use the buggers in owt else tho :(
