I have been forced to have the ECU of my Peugeot 206 replaced and its costing 750 big ones for the parts and labour. In terms of what is being done is this excessive?
Not sure where the ECU is located in a 206 but if it were me I`d be paying a visit to the local scrappers to try a 2nd hand ECU.
There isn`t really anything in there to go faulty. What faults are you having with the car?
All the best
Gerald.
Well according to the garage (who in fairness are trustworthy as mate of my father-in-law) its gone mental.
The Engine Management light came on so I took it to garage who plugged in their computer and found about 8 fault codes all relating to different things. Some referred to Air Conditioning problems (when I dont have air conditioning) and some referred to plug problems. The garage had the car for a few days and tried various things including changing the coil (which had been done only 6 months ago after a similar episode) but nothing has worked so far and they have come to the conclusion its the ECU which may have been damaged by spikes from the coil.

Have you called other garages and asked what they charge and how many hours labour it will be?
Call two main dealers and on good independent. Normally its the labour rate which differs. Main dealers as much as £100 an hour while an independent half that. Pug parts can be pricey though.
