Yup, that`s a bad EEPROM flash, which can happen when power cuts out halfway through the upgrade. This particular problem is rife on Sampo players.

Try unplugging your player, replugging it in, and hitting OPEN/CLOSE on the front of the player BEFORE hitting the POWER button - you may need to keep your finger on the button. This should hopefully eject the CD, and then hopefully, after unplugging and replugging, your player should be operational again.

Then try to do the flash again (ie stick the CD in - don`t touch the player until it powers down, then eject the CD by pressing OPEN/CLOSE before you press POWER).

This instructions certainly work with Sampo players, dunno about yours though - give it a whirl.

Otherwise, you`ll need your EEPROM reprogramming, which is a bit of a pain.

Cheers for the info but unfortunatly it didn`t work all i`e got is a blank screen and the light to say the power on. Can i ask where you got your information for the sampo players to see if they do it with oritron.

http://www.area450.com/firmware/upgrade.htm

It`s a useful site for Sampo owners (eg Encore Dv450, Wharfey M5)

If it was an official firmware upgrade that you were doing, why not just return the player to the retailer ?

If it wasn`t an official one, then you`ll need to establish which EEPROM your player uses. As an example, Encore DV450s use 29F040 PLCC, 512K, X8 bit - complicated isn`t it ?!

Once you`ve established that, you`d need to find someone willing to flash the Oritron EEPROM with the Oritron firmware ROM - you`ll need someone with the relevant kit - have a look at http://www.area450.com/sampozone.htm under technical articles (EEPROM) - Darrell from the US devised a cunning device to do just that.
