Page 1 of Online DVD Stores -lets make a comprehensive list

I think it would be a good idea if we had a list of online dvd stores with a small amount of info about typical prices and postage. Plus if the nice moderators would make it as a proper page within the site, it would make it easier to talk about shops without having to type in the url every time. Plus we wouldn`t have to go elsewhere just to get the link or the bog standard info like postage.

My suggestion would be

Name - URL - Regions sold - Postage per disc - Typical Price for a 1 disc DVD

e.g. (and i can`t remember exactly the nos.)

Amazon - www.amazon.co.uk - R2 - £1.74 1st disc, 25p subsequent - £17.99-£19.99

But if we used a thread to post what we find then the moderators can almost copy and paste to the page.

Anyone like this idea?

must agree with clayts..its a great idea
i usually use play or box office just cause of the free shipping,but im sure if i looked round further id get dvds cheaper;its just a pain scanning all the sites and comparing prices/regions.
were not all loaded so any help to save dosh gets my vote

Disc prices are difficult because some sites have discs from £9 to £30. But it would be a good idea, here are a few I use.....

dvdimport.com - free shipping - very cheap, but take money instantly
play247.com - f/sh - slightly more expensive but very reliable and quick
dvdboxoffice.com - f/sh - fairly cheap but long delivery times

Good idea - why not have a rating scheme, like on download.com - anyone can post a comment and ratings (perhaps split into price, speed of delivery, customer service etc) ...well go see www.download.com - you`ll get the idea.

Why not extend this into hardware too - having haunted these forums for a while now, it`s obvious that a lot of people simply visit to get opinions on DVD players, and a lot of posts are basically repeated. Nothing wrong with that, and I`m sure we`re all happy to help, etc but a central resource like that might be much appreciated. I guess audioreview do something similar - I find it quite useful to get user opinions on stuff.

It would have to be designed/managed so that it didn`t turn into another forum (i.e. next review reads "RichardH`s review of the Cyberhome was rubbish - I`ve had one for .....")

Maybe a "see you in the forums" button (sort of like "let`s sort this out at lunchbreak on the playing field!) would help (not entirely serious suggestion)

Only thing about this suggestion is that it`s a whole load of extra functionality - sorry RJS!
