The original reviews in What HiFi (http://www.whathifi.com) and Home Entertainment (http://home-entertainment.co.uk) make no reference to MP3 on this player unfortunately. However, by the same token Total DVD (no website - try WV publications) mention that "there is no mention of this in the instruction manual, but it will red MP3 discs".`
My bet is that early models had it (and naturally review models) and newer ones ain`t. Alternatively, there may be something on your set up menu that needs tweaking. Similarly, what amp do you have - if you`ve got it attached by a digital cable it just may be the case you`ll have to use good old phono cables to hear the sound. Just a stab in the dark, but it`s a start...

the mp3 disc i tried to play was the beatles collection bought from a car boot sale. i have re-copied it on my own plexwriter and my copy works fine. downloaded more from napster made a disc of 144 songs and that works fine. still dont know why original disk wont play?

You don`t need one - it`s multi-region out of the box. Julie - I can only assume the disc you got from the car boot sale was supplied bya Frank Butcher type geezer. Great news that you can download and play your own, which is the main point !

I have no prob with my 103 running MP3. What I am not sure of is whether the player can pick up more than 99 tracks on 1 disk? Also, it`s not a RW disk is it? It only reads CD-R disks.

You should also get an on screen display on your TV showing the tracks/folders.

Look Daddy Uncle Richie told you that he had burnt a disc with 150 odd mp3 trax on it in folders and it works no problemo.
