Haven`t managed to get mine going on these yet either, multiregion, but no macrovision hack.

If you find out how let me know.

The Samsung players have absolutely no problem with VCDs per se. If you buy a commercial VCD release, it will play fine.

What they do have a problem with, in most cases, is CD-R. If you want full CD-R compatibility and you own a Samsung x09, 511 or (possibly) DVD-M105, your only option is to buy a different DVD player.

There are a few brands of CD-R which will work on those players (Princo for one), but it`s a hit-miss affair.

Most DVD players will play RW even if they dont play CD-R`s

Verbatim seem to work well

Yeah, I managed to play Philips and Verbatim CD-RWs on my 709. It`s still a bit hit-miss, though, not all brands will work.
