having problems with branched movies...
I`m having trouble with "branched" movies, ie, where deleted scenes and such are included in the film when you press an icon that flashes up. It`s happened with region 1 copies of Me, Myself & Irene, Dinosaur and just recently 13 Days. The bottom half of the screen goes green and the picture ratio changes between 16:9 and 1.85:1. I have a Samsung 807, which I know are notorious troublemakers! If anyone knows how to eliminate this problem, I`d be very grateful! I`ve also had problems with that old favorite The Matrix, and that slightly-lesser favorite Battlefield Earth. They freeze all the way through and it just totally disrupts the flow of the movie.
So if anyone has any ideas, please let me know and I`ll buy you a pint.

I wouldn`t say no to that pint, Rob (Stella for me), but I`m afraid you`ll have to dig deeper into your wallet and buy a new DVD player for yourself :-(
The 807 was a seminal player - it was the first DVD deck to break the £250 barrier in the UK, and garnered five-star reviews from the scattier home cinema mags - but in reality it was fraught with problems, and Samsung never came up with a satisfactory fix for them. Kingfisher Group (Comet, Woolworths etc.) eventually gave out brand new 709s to disgruntled 807 buyers, once it became clear that the machine was a lemon.

Ah well, such is life. Thanks, all the same. I`d buy you that pint and send it in the post but with Royal Mail the way they are these days I can`t guarantee it`ll get there in one piece! Can you recommend a player that`s reasonably priced and doesn`t suffer problems with region 1 or 2 discs? And if you can, I`ll buy you a shot as well!

Samsung DVD-M105.
Having said that, your experience with the 807 may have put you off Samsung players for life :-)
