How to get rid of Damp in my Bathroom?
Anyone got any tips for getting rid of it?
We always keep the bathroom window open to ensure good ventilation but its obviously not good enough..........
Its mainly on the wallpaper and a small amount on the tiles

We used to invest in de-humidifiers (they always lasted about a year). :/
I quite like the Helpdesk people in a benevolent (as opposed to malevolent) way as they do some valuable work in preventing us being inundated by every halfwit who can work a phone.

Get rid - You can get mildew sprays and things like that
Prevent - we were in a similar situation to you but our bathroom relies on a small vent because it has no windows. We found that a stand alone dehumidifying unit was the only way to prevent it. Put it on for an hour or so a night or after youve had a bath/shower.
Its amazing how much water it picks up. A couple of litres a day, easy. Its actually quite gross. And, yes, I did think about drinking it.........

Fit a timed extractor fan via your light switch should cure the problem.

Vinegar and bicarbonate of soda mixed to a paste works well on tiles , rub it in well and leave it for an hour or so before rinsing off.
In my bathroon I have an extract fan connected to a PIR mounted in the ceiling so the fan starts up as soon as anyone goes into the bathroom and stays on until they leave.

I once had damp in a bathroom in a flat and got various quotes to get rid of it. People came round with special devices that they put into the walls to measure the damp etc and quotes varied from £750 to a coupla grand to get rid (this was in London... :/ ). Then a cheery sort turned up for the final quote and suggested that an extractor fan would do the trick. He put it in and it was as dry as a bone within a couple of weeks....

Does that make the place a `no-go-zone` for a few hours after the evacuation of small brown parcels?

All I do is wipe the damp/mildew with thick bleach on a cloth, leave for
a few mins and you will see it disappear, some times you
may have to give it a couple of go`s.
It always works for me :)
Dont waste your money on a mildew remover, it`s just a bleach
based product.

Unless you light a match, it is wise to give it ten minutes ;)
