US version of `The Office` on BBC3 tonight - was it worth watching ?

merryprankster2 (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 14th June 2005, 19:46

Starting tonight on BBC3 at 9.30 is `The Office, An American Workplace` (ep 1 of 6)
Haven`t seen it yet but the reports so far are mixed. Is it a match for Ricky`s Slough version - or is it a Yankee turkey........? :/

OK - seen it and ok ? is probably the right description - don`t think I`ll bother next time - sorry Ricky, but hey - you`ve already got the royalties and the Golden Globes so what the hell if someone somewhere doesn`t like the version that you`re not in........ ;)

The first episode of the US version is eesentially a retread of the UK version.

When they start doing their own scripts in later eps, there are quite a few laughs in there.

I`d stick with it - it`s only 6 episodes.

Chris.

Well I was expecting the worst - but I was actually very pleasantly surprised! Obviously, it`s not as good as the Britsh one - but it`s still very funny/good. I think the guy playing "David Brent" was excellent (had a tough act to follow!) - and I have a big crush on the lovely Pam... :x

absolutely awful prog. The guy playing David Brent was just like Jim Carrey. I dont know why the just used the same script - why cant the americans write it for themselves rather than just copying the English one.

They tried to the same with Ben behaving badly which didnt work either. Saying that I dont think we can copy thier progs either. Lets all just stick to what we know.

Sorry, got to disagree with this, imo the prog was ok, not to bad.

What`s wrong with Jim Carrey???? I don`t often go to the cinema but Ive seen a
couple of his films, very funny guy, the place was rocking with laughter. :)
