Page 1 of New SKY question
General Forum
Hi
Just recived the latest sky mag, and there is an advert in there about a new sky reciver which has two recivers in it and a recorder, which enables you to record one chanel and watch another, also watch two seperate channels in different rooms. Does anyone have any more info on it?
ickle yoda would be the most likely cadidate to answer that one...
Yoda?
I know a little bit about this - it`s like a digibox and PVR (Personal Video Recorder) all in one - ie you can tape broadcasts onto a hard drive contained within the PVR.
Apparently you have two receivers - one which enables you to tape one Sky channel whilst you watch another - long overdue IMHO.
Ickle Yoda - more details please ?
Apparently Pace do a model that does all the above, plus is also Sega Dreamcast compatible. You can download games onto the hard drive for a few quid and play them as many times as you like for about a week. Rumour has it that sky has the final decision as to wether this feature will see the light of day, but it`s better than bloody battleships!
watch out for the price of it will be expensive to start off also is very likely you will hav to install single tuner box before eligability for equipment please note tivo seem to vary in price fom £300-£399 and sky equipment costs about £400 to buy so it could really hit you in wallet.
also anybody who wants sky better do it before 2/7/01 as they are upping all installation prices on that date

What will the new installation prices be?
Mike
I`ve heard £70 bandied about amongst the rumour mills...
I phoned the info number in the new sky guide and they couldn`t give me a price or a date for the new system. All they did was take my name and address. Apparently they are going to send an "info pack"!.
Any idea if they are going to charge a extra subscription? I`d hope not as you already pay a subscription and get all the programming info, but I could see sky trying to charge you extra because of the two tuners.
new prices will be £50 for any top tier package such as skyworld, skysportsworld etc.
£70 for any other subscriptions
£100 for no subscription
no idea about the extra subscription but i dont think so as the equip is going to cost more. only way they can charge an extra fee is if you hav another box (which i doubt as cable you can hav 3 boxes in one house only paying one fee for channels but another £10 per box dont really see sky forcing people to go to opposition.)
