Scary Movie Problem

Pepe Blaxican (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 23rd June 2001, 22:02

I own a GE 1105P and I am having trouble getting Scary Movie to play. It used to play fine and all of a sudden it won`t play on my system any more. It loads in and just stays at the FBI warning screen. All other DVDs work fine for me and Scary Movie works fine on both my father and brother in laws players. Any ideas as to why this is happening.

As you may know, the GE 1105P is a clone of the Samsung 709, which is known to have this problem with Scary Movie. The workaround is to hit the TOP MENU button immediately when the display changes from LOAD to 00:00 (i.e. before the FBI screen appears). If the 1105P remote doesn`t have a TOP MENU button, hitting the MENU button a few times in quick succession should achieve the same thing.

What puzzles me is your comment that "it used to play fine and all of a sudden..." AFAIK, without the workaround, Scary Movie will *always* do the "FBI freeze" on a 709 or clone - I`ve never heard of it playing fine before.

I am not joking about it playing for a while. It worked fine and then a friend tried to watch it when i was away and said that it dodn`t work. i tried hitting the menu button a whole bunch of times when loads and says 00 and i still get nothing, any other ideas.

I am a small hairy dog and as such don`t know anything about DVDs so I can`t help you. Sorry - next time ask someone in a shop. Or someone who cares. My owners version of the movie works fine and I get fed regualry which is all I care about so take your whining elsewhere.

Let`s "paws" for thought and consider how relevant these last two postings actually were.

I`d be "barking" not to point out that the original thread should have been in the software forum to start off with, "chum".

But make no "bones" about it, I can`t let forum members off the "leash" for one minute or it would just turn into a "dogfight".

People think this moderating malarkey is "a walk in the park". It ain`t no "ball" that`s for sure.

"Fangs" for listening, I have to exert "wuff" justice somewhere else now.

I`ll get me collar....
