Online dating?

DazMack1979 (Elite) posted this on Friday, 4th February 2005, 21:06

Right, at the risk of opening myself up to ridicule...

Fed up with being single (not far off a year now, yikes), and to be honest going out pubbing and clubbing just isn`t my thing when it comes to meeting women - abysmal dancer, self-conscious, the whole lot. I`m an average looking guy, just sorely lacking confidence - the first approach, the fear of rejection, the feeling awkward as hell... argh. I seem to end up with plenty of female friends but no dates. And it`s bugging the hell out of me! I`m much more a `few drinks in a pub with friends, plenty of good banter, maybe a meal` type of guy. Or there`s the cinema but that`s not exactly much use is it?

So I got to thinking about signing myself up for one of these online jobs, see what happens. Mainly through curiosity it must be said, haven`t given up on the real world just yet! Has anyone here ever tried it?

Quite keen to hear people`s views on online dating too - general impression seems to be that it`s seen as a pretty desperate thing to be doing but is that the case? Mates have differing opinions but what the heck, can`t hurt to try.

Will keep you posted...

That`s what I come on here for :D

Although, apart from the fact that I`m a girl, your description of yourself is pretty much how I would describe myself (where do you live?!!).

Not tried online dating myself - TBH, I keep telling myself I`m not that desperate yet (plus, I really can`t be arsed - which no doubt goes a long way to explain why I`m still single). A friend of mine was really into it a while ago, haven`t spoken to her since before Xmas, but last I heard she was in a serious relationship with a guy she`d met via online dating (but she`s tall and skinny and looks like Nicole Kidman, whereas I`m not and I don`t!)

8) There is absolutely nothing wrong with online dating its the way to go. I have been on several dates with guys from the net, had a laugh and made a couple of good mates along the way..

Not met Mr Right yet, but if you don`t try I never will... Give it a go you have absolutely nothing to lose...Good Luck

i know loads of mates that use online dating (the ones where you can upload a profile but have to subscribe to retrieve answers) & they all rate it, in fact a couple of them don`t need it anymore cos they hooked up with peeps through the sites :)

although one of my mates got in a bit deep with a leather mistress :D

he didn`t seem to complain too much tho ;)

BETHYblue - no wonder you`re single if you can`t get the girls` names right :D :D

(And Aberdeen is just a bit too far from sunny Milton Keynes ;) )
