The Smoking Ban

Oor Wullie (Elite) posted this on Thursday, 11th November 2004, 04:01

Mods you in my opinion are out of order closing the Smoking Ban In Scotland Post. This was a completely different thread from the other one.

Was it because you are smokers and you were offended? :p

Smoking is a filthy disgusting habit. You sit with someone who smokes and they continually blow their filth all over your body and into your lungs. Be honest mods, would you like it if I sat in your company one night, picked my nose and flicked the boogers onto your clothing? No I don`t think so.

A smoker may be the nicest, kindest person you could meet. But when it comes to blowing their disgusting reek out they do not care who gets it.

My house is a 100% no go for smokers. If I have a visitor who smokes, they have to go in the back garden. Irrespective of who ever they are.

This used to make me angry! As many of you know I am an ex firefighter. Many of the firefighters would grab a Breathing Apparatus Set before entering a building with smoke in it. After finishing with the set straight away a fag was stuck in their face...doing what? Swallowing smoke. The very thing they had been avoiding just a few minuets before.

Sorry about this rant, and to the smokers in the forum, you are still welcome at my home, but you will have to go in the garden for your puff.

Will

I must admit I was shocked by the thread being closed.
How can it have been debated to death when it was only put forward in the scottish parliament on Tuesday ??

:/ >:( :p

Basically it was a rerun of a similar debate we had already, when Liverpool City Council were set to introduce a ban.

We try to avoid duplicate threads, simple as that. I refer you all again to the original thread here....

LIverpool...Scotland...the Moon : surely the same arguments will have been trotted out again by both camps ? Quite how anyone can say the two thread are not related astounds me.

Please don`t try to sidestep a moderators decision by posting such an "indignant" new thread, when one already existed...

Long overdue - hopefully it will be possible to go for a drink in a pub in England without your clothes stinking of stale tobacco smoke. Don`t the licencees realise that by permitting smoking they are losing customers?

Having been boozing in Dublin recently, it is really a breath of fresh air (in so far as you can get that in a large city - lol). I look forward to smoke-free boozing soon in Edinburgh - a pint of Caley 80/- for me!

Dublin pubs are being affected very badly as many smokers are refusing to go back to their local pub, so much so, that Guiness is now giving two vouchers for free pints, if you return to the local pub.
