The Mummy - What are your views?

Tony Vado (Competent) posted this on Sunday, 1st April 2001, 22:43

A friend and I had a blazing argument about this yesterday. I think the movie`s harmless fun and thoroughly entertaining, he thinks it`s the spawn of the devil and the mere mention of it triggers violent facial spasms (really!). Now, I`ve come to respect the opinions contained within these forums (well, most of them), so what better place to air this apparently dividing issue? Especially how you rate Brendan Fraser (I like him), and the prospect of sequels (Can`t wait). Come on, is he right or am I?

It reminded me of Indiana Jones.

Pretty nonsensical stuff, but fantastic entertainment nonetheless. Fraser is fine in it, and well cast.

Agree that a sequel would be well received.

Tell your mate to chill out and enjoy the movie for what it was - a very fun, very camp farce !!

There you go, someone had to spoil it all and say its like lndiana Jones.

Oh no! NO WAY! Not by a long shot!

lts a good little film, but its not even close to Raiders!

lf only Lucas would get his massive ego from his butt, and get THAT trilogy on DVD rather than Star Wars

Well, admittedly that was an over-generalisation, and I totally agree the Raiders stuff is massively superior. I was really just trying to pigeonhole it, like us social animals like to do, and point out it`s just a good romp. I certainly wouldn`t consider it a horror movie - would you ?

Harmless fun for all the family,
The sequel looks good, it`s a trailer on Pitch black region 1, or is it Meet the parents region 1.
Nevermind it looks pretty good. It`s a shame the Bloody Rock bloke from the WWF plays the scorpion king or whatever.
The special effects are bound to be very good.
It get`s it`s US cinima release in June I think.

Different leading wench though....

Its a good film, bit of a comedy really, but after a few showings it gets a bit tired! Wouldn`t buy it just rent/tape/erase/ .

But a good film never the less, and them scarab beatles wouldn`t like one of those up my arse!

I`ve got the normal DVD version, but I might get the ultimate edition aswell for DTS sound (is it region 2 or just 1?). Also, give "The Rock" a chance!, I bet before Arnie started people said "shame about that bloody bodybuiler bloke" or Cameron Diaz "shame about that bloody model chick". Lets see how Rocky does and then criticise his performance. You never know, he might be quite good (we`ll see).
