Watched walking tall today at the VUE cinema Horwich (formerly warner bros) and ticket prices have now gone up to £5.60p a ticket :o if i`d pre-booked you could add another 50p to each ticket on top, making it £6.10 each ticket, (and it was in one of the smaller crappy rooms, + there was no surround sound,) then came the nibbles, we got a hot dog each, a portion of those cheesy tortila chips & a regular size coke each, this came to £17 odd pence :/ that makes it around £28 :o yes i know the nibbles are extra`s, but it`s an essential part of the "experience" otherwise i may as well have watched it on dvd in a month or so and saved £15 + fuel + hassle (sp) of parking (which is a nightmare at midlebrook) it`s no wonder piracy is so rife, i could have got this on bootleg months ago but after enjoying rundown figured i`d watch it at the cinema, don`t know about you but i`ll think a lot harder next time before i decide to go to VUE >:(

I think that it is important that we keep the `cinema going experience` alive and kicking. If it comes to just watching films @ home we will have lost the essence of socialising.

Sure, nibbles, hot dogs drinks all cost way too much but.......if we want to keep these cinemas open we have to make them think we need this crap.

We went to see Shrek 2 today (family ticket £14.00 + garbage at extra cost). The thing was.......we enjoyed the experience of seeing other kids un-controllable and chatting away all the time spoiling it for others nearby. This is why we go.....it`s all part of the Chaos Theory! ;)

but does it really need to be soooo expensive ? even just the tickets are very overpriced, i just checked the price at the local ugc cinema, £4.50 for a showing at the same time ? that`s a fairly big difference, and it`s a newer cinema, so warner can enjoy the VUE as much as they want, i know where my money`s going next time :/

Thats a lotta wonga m8. At those prices you gotta start thinking about Opportunity Cost(no not Knocks). £30 for 2 - 3 hrs entertainment(hope you enjoyed the film). Maybe it can be dismissed as just a part of Rip-Off Britain. Whatever, it does make you think about wanting to do it on a (too) regular basis.

as for the movie, it was ok, i enjoyed it but nothing special :)

I agree it`s way too dear too. We have a VUE here (formerly Warner), and I`ve always thought it was expensive, especially if it`s the family going (3 kids). We`d rather travel the 10 miles to Middlesbrough to the UGC, it still works out as cheap, or cheaper even taking the petrol into account.

It`s also a much nicer cinema, and cheaper too as you say. UGC also do a £10 monthly ticket, so you can go as much as you want, and see all the new films...now that is good value. If VUE did the same thing, they`d be onto a winner. If the UGC was here and not at Middlesbrough, it would be worth getting the monthly tickets (it`s a 12month minimum deal though, so £120 minimum in total), but even so, a good deal. :)

as per my original post, it`s just part of the "experience" and i hate all those old foggey`s (sp) that take noisy bags of sweets in carrier bags etc, at least the stuff sold at the foyer is packaged in such a way as to fairly noise free, (not that i`m calling you an old foggey :D )
