Not a problem for pirates - very easy to remove.

Very bad for ordinary people who want to do as you suggest.

As an idea it`s almost as bad as region coding (which would literally have killed DVD outside of America if it wasn`t so easy to get around), but who said you needed common sense to run a Hollywood studio? :-(

Hi Scooter.

It really depends on your player. If you have a budget player, there MAY be a remote control hack (i.e. a sequence of numbers or buttons that you can press) to enable access to a hidden menu.

If you have a more mainstream player, chances are the only way to disable Macrovision is to have some form of modification. There are a few companies out there (eg Techtronics, DVD Chips, Upgrade Heaven, etc) who will do this for you.

One of the regulars to the forums, Bear, has mentioned that good old chunky VCRs from about 10-15 years ago are all you need, assuming you`ve got room in your front room for a gigantic bit of kit !!!

Hope this helps - you may want to post up your player`s details (assuming you have one)
