I-Pods - cheaper in the U.S or not?

Neiliboy (Elite) posted this on Saturday, 21st February 2004, 15:30

Hi Guys,

Even though i`ve just come back from NY my mate has just gone there. He called me just now to ask if I-Pods are any cheaper out there or not.

Personally i dont know jack about them so could someone please advise?? He only wants to buy one there if they are considerably cheaper.

Thanks in advance

Neil

A friend of mine has just got one from the US, and says that because the pound is stronger right now it works out cheaper to get one out there...so yeah. :-)

YES !!

Eg. 40gig:

US price = $480 (£257)

UK price = £390

I call THAT a good deal !

But you can`t buy an iPod on the US site and have it shipped to UK can you?

Unfortunately you are correct Ben.

It`s lucky that on of the guys who used to work for me now works in our NY office and can ship me things via internal post, if I ask nicely enough ;)

With the pound so strong right now they`re a real bargain...just waiting for the 4GB ones to come out. Already have a 2nd generation 10GB one but would like the smaller player

Any other way then of me importing a mini iPod for a decent price? Or am I going to have to end up paying the probable UK RRP? (about £200) :(

Maybe I could try eBay, but that still won`t be as cheap as buying straight off of Apples site. :( Any other US distributors?

They`ve got them on Amazon.com for $249.99 (£134.26) here.

Anyone know if they ship these type of products to the UK?
