SonyDAV300 to TV

Ade_of_sas (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 22nd February 2001, 20:44

Hi can anyone help me out in connecting my TV to a Sony DAV300? Basically, because my player has 5 surrounding speakers, I want to put them in use when I watch normal TV. I have tried every cable in every socket but all I can get is sound from my crappy TV speakers. It has to be possible because the Sony300 has its own amp. Any ideas?

Ade,

Use phono leads and connect from your sat box/video to the video 1 sockets at the back of the dvd player, then select video 1 using the function button. Thats all you have to do - if it doesn`t sound great you have either dodgy leads or a dvd player.

Ade,

You can connect tv straight to dvd using the phono leads in the same way.

Sorry for being so thick, but how exactly? My TV has 2 scarts sockets - I`ve tried connecting one to the DVD via a scart>phono cable and also using phono leads which plug directly into a scart adaptor. I`ve made sure I`ve selected the correct function on the on DVD, so what am I missing? Arggh! Thanks for any help

Forget the Scart sockets, does your tv have stereo out phono points? If so use them, if not do what I do and connect using stereo out phono points on my digibox (or video).

No, it only has 2 scarts, BUT! I`ve fixed the problem buying a switchable in/out scart adaptor. Thanks for your help.
