`Finding Nemo`

RWB (Elite) posted this on Monday, 25th August 2003, 11:40

I saw this on the plane to the US, even though it hasn`t been released in the UK yet (October I believe). I loved Pixar`s previous work, with the two `Toy Story` films and `Monsters, Inc.` being the best (`A Bug`s Life` was OK), and was pleased with this, although on first viewing I rate it up there with `A Bug`s Life`, and not as good as the other three.

The main reason for this is the restrictions of being underwater for the duration, and although Pixar have animated everything excellently as usual, it does feel a bit imposing and lacks the freedom and spontaneity of their previous features. Also, there is a bit too much emphasis on kids this time around.

Worth seeing, and I may have to rent it to decide whether I will want to buy it...no doubt the DVD will be another great 2 disc set from BHVE.

how dare they?
It`s true though that the best children`s films are those that work on more than one level-in the nicest possible way.

p.s Welcome back Rik,sounds like a great trip-didn`t bring back Thomb Thumb in your pocket for me?

Although Pixar`s previous work was definitely aimed at kids as well, it held appeal for more mature audiences too - something that is weaker (in my opinion) with `Finding Nemo`. Nevertheless, Sue, I`m sure your kid(s?) will enjoy it, and you will too...just don`t expect something that rivals `Toy Story`.

Finally saw this today at me local UGC. Was impressed by it throughout and it`s defintely just as good as the other Pixar efforts.

Now, do I buy the R1 DVD, or wait for the R2 which will most definitely have DTS? ;)

I liked it when I saw it too. IMO, it`s more enjoyable than Monsters, Inc.

R1 already pre-ordered! :D

Where did you preorder it?

It`s shocking to think that (just like The Italian Job) I could have the official DVD within a week of seeing the film in the cinema. I`m tempted by the R1, I really am :D
