Can anyone help on how to connect the DVD through the VCR. I tried but could get sound only and no picture. Any information would be appreciated.

your dvd player has a program on it called macrovision which stops people copying dvds so when you connect it through a vcr the picture doesnt come up to stop you from copying it on to video tape. What player do you have? if you look on this site ther might be a hack to disable macrovision then you will be able to watch it through the vcr. or the expencive alternative is some kind of adapter available at www.lectropacks.com or is it .co.uk one if them

Thanks for your response. I`m new to this DVD thing so I`ll take your advice and look for the hack to disable the macrovision. Thanks again.

Macro doesn`t "disable" the picture, it just causes it to "flash" and "stripe"

Check you leads (I assume its a SCART) and that they are FULLY home on the player and the combi!

No picture with sound is a commonly reported fault with a scart that just needs pushed in a bit more! lol

But you`ll probably get the "flashing" thing, but worth trying before you invest in an inline macro decoder! ;o)

AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!

I`ll try again and make sure that all of the leads are home. What are these macro decoders and where do I get one. Thanks for the info

Macro on some VCR`s does stop the picture and on some it just causes it to "flash" and "stripe" this depends on the make and model

You need a computer first off with a video Capture card.

You have to plug your video into the video in on your capture card and the sound in on your sound card, using the red, white and yellow jacks on the back of the dvd player.

Then you connect your video recorder to a tv set. Plug the video and sound out on your computer to the video and sound in on your video,
Once this is done you active the capture software with your capture card and just let it run through so you can see the picture on your computer which will be a little slower than what it looks like on the tv.

You might have to turn your tv up and mess with the leads on your connection so you get the sound coming out of the tv. I had to unplug my speakers on my computer so that the tv is where the computers sound comes out from.

How this works is,this way it keeps the private device on the computer and gives you a clear signal. If you tape it in short play since its a vdvd its taken from its better than a normal vhs bought in the shops.

Its hard to explain but I hope you can make sense of this, I could demstrate it better but this works for copying videos of good quailty too you just need a video player and recorder.

If you have any questions e-mail me on : 02rotcerideht[at]moc.liamtoh I hope you manage this and if you know the vcd hack fro this model let me know.

Don`t some models of VCR not have a "full" SCART socket - ie they can Output an Image, but don`t have the input facility?
