GRRRR!

Saxton (Elite) posted this on Monday, 30th December 2002, 20:06

Hello,

I have an HP Photosmart 1000 printer, and i just bought a PC Line cartridge for the printer (SAYS COMPATIBLE WITH MY PRINTER) but when i put it in i get messages such as "COLOR CARTRIDGE NOT COMPATIBLE" even though the Cartridge is supposed to work with my printer, when i put my old HP cart in everything is OK!

Will dixons take the cart back?

regards,

Hirsty

no, PC Line is there own make, so they should, but this is dixons. who dont let you bring anything back. though you may be in luck. say it was an xmas gift or something, that may work?

HP have been using clever chips recently to prevent non-HP carts being used in their printers. Not likely to be using them for much longer though: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/54/28653.html

the pc line cart is actually just a refilled HP cart (still says HP on the top) so it should work!

anyway i will read the above site and will tackle dixons tomorrow!

If your cartridge is supposed to be compatible, but actually isn`t because of the printer, then by all means take it back to Dixons and challenge them on the fact, and don`t leave without a refund. :-)
