Minato DVD G1 Sold at Tescos - Any Good ???

My first foray into DVD player ownership was a Wharfdale 750 and Gladiators DVD purchased from Tescos. Connected it all up and nothing as the Added Value Disc crashed the player. Not a very good start !!! Since then I got my money back and I bought a safe machine a Philips 711 DVD that plays any Region 2 disc I`ve put in it upto now. However, I want to purchase another DVD player and don`t want to spend a lot of money. I considered the Medion in ALDI`s but I want a black finished machine and saw the Minato today for sale in Tesco`s for only £149.99. It looks good a bit like a slimmed down Wharfdale and all the packaging makes me think the machine is unique to Tesco`s. I`ve searched the Internet and cannot find a mention of Minato. So has anyone taken the plunge and bought one ? and if so is it any good ? Your comments would be welcomed.

It`s a bit clunky and chunky, but at least it works reliably! unlike a few players I`ve seen. Mine has been carted round in a car and a boat and given plenty of knocks & bangs since I bought it and it still works nicely.

Like you I can`t find any mention of it on the net, and no sign of a region hack, but I`m sure it`s possible!

if you find out anything about that region-less action can u give me a mail (mahned_newo[at]moc.liamtoh)

muchas gracias
