I`ve just seen Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. One word, Gollum ... that`s how to create a great CGI character.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... I wish people would stop comparing the two franchises, they are completely different in terms of their approach. And I`m sorry, but Yoda, the clone troopers and the digital doubles used in AOTC were easily as good as the ones in TTT. Andy Sirkis` performace was better than those of the stars of AOTC, which is what helped to sell the character, but the animaion wasn`t as good as you`re making out.

There were a number of scenes where Gollum didn`t interact well with the surrounding environment for a start. Oh, and I don`t think George Lucas was directly responsible for animating the characters in his films; I reckon ILM might have had something to do with it.

I don`t know why people keep slamming Lucas all the time. To be honest I`m finding it all a bit tiresome.

Must agree with you Chris. People tend to forget that in Star Wars he`s created some of the most influential and breathtaking films of modern time. Oh, and also I think people should take into account Jar Jar Binks was created on CGI Software about 4/5 years ago at least, and the technology has advanced a huge amount since then. And plus he still looks good by most standards today.

In fact, if it wasn`t George Lucas` ILM pushing the bar so high effects-wise, things might not be to the standard they are today.

I`m sure Peter Jackson didn`t personally animate Gollum himself either. WETA anyone?
