Page 1 of Region 1 upgrades

Following my last message, thinking about it what is the real point of having a player upgraded to R1? I mean anything hired from your local vid shop is going to be R2. The only thing I can think of is that you may get the odd film with an extra few minutes (Gladiator, for example) but other than that is there really any point. I think I only really want to do it because I know you can...... Moan over. Thanks for reading.

How about the type of transfer? I`d buy an anamorphic R1 if the R2 equivalent was non-anamorphic (e.g. Twelve Monkeys)
