Ball park figures for R1 upgrade
Hi all. I`ve got a Toshiba SD100E and am not becoming quite aware there is no remote hack for this (Bugger!). I`ve had a price off a local company (Bolton) to have it "chipped" to accept Region 1 for £90.00. Is that wayyyyyy over the top or am I just being a tight wad?

That sounds ridiculously excessive - after all, you can buy a refurbished, multi-region Samsung 709 from Richer Sounds for £99.99 :-)
Upgrade Heaven quote £49.99 plus carriage, which seems more reasonable.

Have a look at MRM`s web site, they publish all their prices there:

I`m pleased with the upgrade they did for me on my Sony - seems to be better than those offered at Richer Sounds

MRM quote £58 inc VAT for the Tosh upgrade, or £29 for the DIY kit. Still pricey, but better than paying £90.
I think the moral of the story is: buy a multi-region modified or easily hackable player at the outset :-)
