How do I Insert a Picture into word then have text wrap around it?

r8sso (Elite) posted this on Sunday, 10th November 2002, 14:14

I have a picture I want to insert into word but the image is long and thin so it leaves alot of white space on the right of the image, which I would like to fill with text. At the moment the text stops and the image takes up half a page then the text starts again under image. Any ideas on how I can get the text to run down the side of the image?

Not sure how clear I`ve made myself but thanks for any help.
Ross.

I would draw a text box, then insert the picture into the text box. Then right click on the border and choose Format Text box.... choose the Layout tab to alter the wrapping options. You can also then remove the text box visible border etc.

You don`t need to do a text box...double-click on the image, go Layout and click `Square` and on the radio button below click `Left`.

I like the text box as you can move it around the document more easily afterwards - unless there`s a better way?

dont do it in word... what you`re trying to do is DTP.. so use some DTP software....

If you wanna start at the bottom.. use MS Publisher... or Corel Draw.. if you feel like spending a grand.. (or not ;)) use QuarkXpress

problems lie in trying to do everything with one package.. Word is really just for text and typing... but you can combine it with other programs that allow you to import text from word...

you`ll find you got much more control over what you want if you use a combination of software..

It`s for an assignment HaGGis. All I`m doing is writing a report and I want to reference some screen shots. Word is perfect and the advice Rich gave works a treat!

Thanks again for the help.
