You need to decide which type:

USB, firewire or parallel

100 or 250 MB

The best and most suitable for you is the slimline blue 250MB USB version, for which you`re looking in the region of 90quid 2nd hand, 100quid new.

Iomega the inventor of the Zip disks do them, if you go for the USB version go for the self powered version (ie draws power from the USB port), saves you lugging an adapter about and means you can use it on the move. This costs around £20 more than the standard USB version.

If the supplier don`t stock this, get a PCMCIA cable to do the same job.

You should be able to get one from any on-line computer retailer.

Ebay is always carrying second hand, but to be honest, the prices nearly always come up to very near retail price anyway, and you`d be better off spendnig the extra £10 or £15 and getting the security of a retailer and warranty backup.

Do you need it to be compatible with floppy drives too? (Can`t remember the last time I used one, but you may need this for transferrring files to another computer, for example) - zip drives only use their own format discs (unless they`ve done something whizzy in the last while).
http://www.ebuyer.com or http://www.dabs.com are both usually the cheapest.

RichardH is right - don`t get confused with the old LS120, which is backwards compatible with floppy discs. NONE of the Zip drives are backwawrds compatible.

Can you still get the LS120 drives, by the way? I haven`t seen any for ages.
