FIFA 2009 v Pro Evo 9

Fifa is £29.99 in Tesco in store this weekend and thinking of making the turn this year, so thinking about buying it.

My main reason at the moment is that Pro Evo is the same old, same old, each year now, with few changes in games modes and close up graphical improvements (couldn`t really give a s*** about these in the big scheme of things).

The main let down last year though was Pro Evo online. It`s one of the only games I`ve ever played online and the year before`s version although originally shaky they released patches that solved all the problems. Last year they just seemed to accept them and leave the online mode to die on it`s arse.

I even tried playing it about a month or so ago and there was still really bad lag, plus the fact you could smash the ball in the top corner and then miraculously the ball would appear at your opponents feet running through on goal one on one and your goal never counted >:(

What was Fifa online like last year?

I`m slightly sceptical of buying Fifa though, as I remember last year there was similar hype of Fifa being the better game and a massive improvement, but then after a while Ben? and a few others actually saying that there were a load of annoying factors which actually ruined the game (if memory serves me correctly).

Fifa 08 online (on the PS3 at least) is pretty good IMHO.
Most of the time (if both parties have a decent connection speed) there is no lag at all and it plays very well.

There`s a thread around here somewhere that talks about the Fifa 09 demo, which I`ve played and to be honest didn`t find it different enough from 08 to make it worth buying. I`m sure I will do eventually, but probably when its come down to around £25 instead of nearer £40

That`s why I`m interested at £29.99 this weekend as £25 is probably the longest it will come down until after christmas and I haven`t played the Fifa games in recent years (think I had the demo for 07).

Plus the fact you can walk in store to pick it up means it could be potential impulse buy. :D

I haven`t tried the demo of PES but have with FIFA09 and Euro 08.
The thing I really like is the "Be A Pro" mode where you play as one player rather than the whole team. It`s in the Euro demo but not the FIFA09 one for some reason. It`s good fun when a couple of you are playing on the same team.

Picked it up for £29.97 at Tesco - first thoughts much better than last years 08 - also a lot harder.

Don`t suppose they`re doing the PS3 version the same price are they? I might be tempted at £30
