I had that happen once and what i found that did the job was to unplug it from the mains for a day then plug it back in and it should work.
RE: Can anyone fix my xbox?
is it giving you a service message ? or just flashing.

:/ odd, i`m assuming you haven`t had it modded yet, maybe a dodgy LIVE update ? (i`m assuming this is done automaticaly ?) i reckon it`s back to the shop with it tbh :( it`s still under warranty.

It`s 3 years old exactly since it was made.
I`ve had it since April 2002 (it was manufactured in 3rd week of Jan 02)
It`s never been modded.
I am on LIVE and the last update was for Halo 2 about a month ago.. working fine since then.
I believe it to be dead... I hear that Microsoft charge about £50 for fixing and that does not guarantee your HD will be intact when you get it back.

RE: Can anyone fix my xbox?
sorry dude, i was assuming you got you`re x-box when you went LIVE :( bummer, do you have a computer fair nearby ? they usually have guys that fix/modd consoles (bowlers at manchester have about 10 stalls that do them) i reckon thats you`re best bet, otherwise it`s probably a new box :(
if it`s the original version of the x-box i may have a motherboard you can have if that proves to be the problem ? (i also have an x-box hard drive thats in "original" state, but it`s from a newer box)

sounds like a faulty dvd rom drive which can be bought but if microsoft are wanting £50 not bad price that
