deacon brodie (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 28th April 2002, 21:06

Can anyone recommend any shopping sites in USA or Canada for on line purchase. I have been to one or two, but they either charge extorcionate postal rates or won`t send to UK.

Any decent sites let me know. Thanks .

Can you make this a bit clearer? Are you looking for R2 DVDs on US sites to have them sent to the UK? They wont have any I`m sure. Or are you after R1 stuff? Have you tried http://www.play.com ? They are UK based, sell R1 and R2, good pricing and free postage too. What more could you want?

http://www.dvdboxoffice.com

This is a site based in Canada and their prices include free shipping. However, the disc`s will be R1. Do you have a multi-region player?

Like sashenden says, your post is a bit confusing.

If it is R2 DVDs your after then you can`t go wrong with http://www.play.com

I`ll go along with Play.com, and also http://www.cd-wow.com providing your player is multi region, they are the best prices I`ve seen. Usually slightly cheaper than Play and good service, fairly quick delivery.

I`ve got Harry Potter on pre-order now to be shipped when it releases on the 11th May, £22.99 here....£13.99 off them, and like Play, all their prices INCLUDE p&p.

www.futureent.com are the cheapest and fastest in my experience. Delivery is free and prices much better than dvdboxoffice.com !

Also check out www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk for a nice way to compare prices amongst all the mentioned sites.

I agree www.futureent.com are good, sometimes out of stock items take a wee while to arrive, but customer service in my experience is good.

I use them as my 1st port of call for region 1 stuff and so far so good.

They have good pre-order prices too, and loads of bargains.

I have used them around 7 or 8 times and so far no problems.

BE WARY of cd-wow as the version could be region 1, 2 or 3. although it states region 1 in the catalogue, it could be an inferior Region 3 version.

Check out the popup box that appears when you go to purchase something from them .....read the small print there to see what I mean.

To be fair to CD-WOW, they do state that they are a global supplier, and you must have a muli region player as they source their stock from worldwide sources. You still know what you are getting when you buy it though, as when you click on the description for the film, it says what region it is. I think the pop-up box is just a reminder to make sure you know you are buying a different region disk before you complete your transaction.

For example, I`ve just bought A.I. this morning, it stated it`s a region 1 disk, and was looking for Black Hawk Down, which they showed as being supplied as a region 3 disk, so they do tell you what you are getting.

I looked on Play for Black Hawk Down and they showed it too, region 1, a few pounds dearer. But it said it is an RCE disk, so maybe CD-WOW are supplying it in region 3 format to enable more people to be able to play it because I don`t think region 3 is RCE???. They seemed to be the same according to the specs.
