Best thing about that is if they're keeping the original theme song.

RE: [VIDEO] Ghostbusters 2020
Christ, what a smug, self-aggrandizing asshat. Maybe if his voice wasn't a gimmick and he didn't plaster his name all over the screen just n case you forgot who you were listening to, or trying to if he took a breath once in a while, he'd come across as informative. But maybe that's his thing.
But as godawful a going-into-it-intending-to-rip-on-it-regardless review that was, he's not wrong in that this is a movie aimed at kids and because of that, kids are in the main roles so the intended audience can relate, which I get, but to compare this to, and to even DARE to put this on a level par with the 2016 abortion makes me want to hunt that cynical douchenozzle down and proton-pack him right in his pozitron gliders.
This movie was hands down the most entertaining flick I've seen this year. If I were to put it on a level with another movie I've watched in the last few months it'd be Free Guy, and you know how much I loved that film.
The danger going into this after 2016 was that it was established that re-hashing the exact format of the first* movie just wasn't going to work without the original cast and their chemistry. I don't need to bring up the Plinkett review to vicariously demonstrate how so very wrong it could be done, so a re-imagining was the only way to go, with enough elements to hook in the faithful until the inevitable finale, which is so obvious by rumour & hearsay alone that it's not worth spoiling, but I will say, it doesn't go the way you'd expect.
There's no point going over the plot, the trailer really does give it away. Mum & 2 kids, relatives of Egon, are evicted and move to his old farmhouse and inherit everything therein. The older kid is awkward, the younger a genius, but you know this.
What the movie does concentrate on more than I expected, was the guy who designed & built Dana & Louis' apartment building from the first movie.
SPOILER:
Even making a short appearance
The thing if, if anyone is going to go into this movie expecting a circa-1984 comedy about shlubby exterminators and their niche gimmick, then bitching about getting a movie that ticks several of the necessary boxes required to turn a post-pandemic profit, then not only are they not paying attention to what's going on movie-wise right now, but also they maybe shouldn't be making Youtube videos with their names all over the bloody screen just so we know who to avoid next time.
SPOILER:
The second the 3 surviving Ghostbusters arrive on screen, you instantly realise why the baton HAD to be passed on.
One thing he did get right though. Despite my previous misgivings about the character called Podcast, he was actually ok, wasn't anywhere near as annoying as expected, and given the setting (small town with nothing for kids to do) he was surprisingly endearing. Which is refreshing as that character could have been so much worse.
Enjoyed it a lot. Shmaltzy near the ending, but given the narrative, to be expected. Don't go in expecting the same feeling as the first 2 movies. Those days have gone, and some people should know that before embarrassing themselves. In fact, I'd go as far as to say nothing he said sounds as if he'd actually seen the movie before posting the review. A cynical mind could glean those opinions from the trailers alone.
Sorry, kinda took that one personally.
By the way:
SPOILER:
Louis Tully, no. Egon Spengler... yes

Your review seems Americanised just for him - asshat and, erm, douchenozzle
I could only imagine you more hurt if he'd criticised 'Jo'.
