Not sure that's totally true as they'd pulled it back a bit with The Works, but good grief, they were certainly in a downward trajectory after Hot Space and arguably The Game...the latter rescued by the release of the first Greatest Hits compilation to cash in on Under Pressure...

People who were into them before Live Aid would say that, but I remember them being really, really uncool. We'd just had the punk era, which was rebelling against glam, prog and stadium rock, and we were into a whole new era of pop that grew out from punk.

Mums and dads were the ones mainly into Queen, and mums and dads are rarely cool. They were not what most people under 20 were listening to in general.

All depends who you hung around with I guess. :)

Has anyone else noticed a plethora of 'react' videos on youTube for Bohemian Rhapsody?

The punk era destroyed music for me, could not stand it, in fact, I am sure it almost destroyed 'Top of the pops' as people lost interest. I was glad the day punk finished and real music came back in.

Really?  Don't you actually remember the bland s***e that populated Totp?

Never got into punk at all, but even I recognise it for what it was...

I was a tad young for 'actual' punk when it first hit, but what it lead to definitely improved music.

Still love The Stranglers and I played London Calling (the album) to death.
