I have seen The Evil Dead, Book of the Dead, Anchor Bay edition R1 and R2 listed on Play. R1 is Dolby EX and THX, but are the extras and film content the same? Is the R! worth the extra money? And is the R2 case the same as R1? as it isnt quite clear.

Both versions are exactly the same. Both have the necronomicon cover, both have DTS ex, and both have the same extras. The only difference is the price, the R2 is cheaper. Wait till monday, and buy it.
