Dutch Filmworks Dawn of the Dead subtitles query

cjrushbrook (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 31st January 2002, 14:14

Hi all,

I recently got the Dutch Filmworks 2-disc set of Dawn of the Dead but am having issues with the subtitles. My machine is a Cyberhome AD-L528. Now I know there are lots of posts concerning subtitle problems with this machine but this is a different problem (I already use the known fixes and they work fine for all other discs). In the menus screens on both discs there is a "Subtitles OFF" option which I select, but when I play the film the subtitles are still there.

I`m not sure if it`s just a problem disc for the 528 or whether anyone else who owns this DVD has had any similar experiences.

Thanks,

Chris.

N.B. Subtitles or not, what a kick-*ss movie!

I agree, this movie is excellent. My fave film of all time actually.

I`m thinking of getting the version that you have so I will let you know if I experience any similar problems.

P.S. If you don`t mind me asking, where did you buy it from & how much did it cost?

Thanks for the advice Stormtrooper, didn`t work exactly like that on my machine but have got it sorted now. On the 528 you`ve got to bring up the display option whilst the film is playing, then in the subtitle box you can not only change the language but also, I discovered by accident, toggle them on/off too.

Ascomdog, I bought my copy from a shop in Holland called Chainsaw who deliver internationally (although you do run the risk of getting your discs siezed by customs). The IRL is http://www.chainsaw.demon.nl
It cost about £20.

Not a bad set at all, although I gather Anchor Bay are doing a 3-disc edition later this year, but I just couldn`t wait. Also, AB haven`t announced whether they are going to have the 1hr documentary featured on this edition.

Chris

I heard of them through a website called http:\\www.sexgoremutants.co.uk where they are highly praised, but god knows how I found that site!
