Page 1 of The Wicker Man *spoilers*

As a big fan of the original I thought I`d go along and see how they`ve managed to botch up for me British cinema`s best horror film ever made. Of course I wasn`t let down! This has to be the most pointless remake ever made since Gus Van Sant`s Psycho. This film is incredibly dull and lacks any of the mystery and suspense of the original. The narrative is ludicrous and and lacks any punch. Gone is the teasing and toying with Edward Woodwards devout catholic beliefs to prove his worth and replaced with a shallow straight laced cop that you couldn`t give a s*** about. The cast is weak Brit Ekland for Leelee Sobieski? Please! And for me the final nail in the coffin is that Christopher Lee`s character has been replaced with a female! Even the burning of the wicker man at the end lacked impact compared to Woodwards `praying to God`. We were actually hedging bets on whether Nic Cage was going to escape in this one.....

Yeah, I was assuming he would as well when I saw they had remade it.
Why do women insist on asking men what they`re thinking? We`re thinking: "F***, better think of something to say." Either that or we`re imagining that we`re spies. - Ed Byrne

Well bugger me, you beat me to this topic by a minute - literally!!
It`s "excrutiating" apparently. Go here:

It`s time now, for Hollywood to give up on remakes altogether. They are constantly arrogant, ignorant and plain stupid. The original Wicker Man is a beautiful classic, a film for which the word "eclectic" was made for. Who would have the gall to say, "Well, it was good, but we can do it better". Look at the recent Omen remake. Shot for shot exactly the same. Why bother? WHY????
Classic movies are not an option for remake. More often than not they are a product of their time and place, and any change to that, or clumsy "updating" is cynical at best and downright dumb at worst. Who could honestly see Nicolas Cage as an actor, let alone filling Woodwards shoes in this film.
What next? A remake of The Godfather starring the cast of Friends, directed by Keanu Reeves and the Farrellys? "Well, sure the Godfather is a classic, but it doesn`t quite hit the beats we think it should for a modern audience...."
Morons.
No wonder takings are down. I`m glad this is crap frankly, and everyone involved should be disgusted with themselves. Hopefully careers will end and heads will roll (I`m looking at you, Cage). NO MORE F***ING REMAKES NOW!!
ENOUGH
"We gotta go to the crappy planet where I`M the hero"!
Do they ever remake their own classics? I can`t think of any. "The Omen" was mostly British.
Nope, they have to have everything and remake foreign classics it seems to me.

Yep, and by a massive stroke of coincidence they are all crap an` all.
"We gotta go to the crappy planet where I`M the hero"!
Forgive me for saing so but the original Wicker Man was a big pile of arse too! Its boring basically. Mr Woodward (whos best role was the Equaliser) stumbles about like Inspector Cluso not getting a bloody thing done and just saying "Hmm, sorry to have bothered you. I`ll just go and look about a bit more and ramble about God." Im glad they burt the silly sod at the end!

You wont be pleased to hear that Peter Jackson is now planning on remaking The Dam Bust...............zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Sorry, its such underwhelming news, I actually fell asleep at my keyboard......the only interesting thing about it is what they call the dog this time.
FFS PJ!!!!! Do something interesting you mother!!!
"Since I got boring when I lost all this weight, my next 5 films are going to be remakes of, The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, 12 Angry Men, Lawrence of Arabia, Judgement at Nuremburg and Morons From Outer Space"
Gah, I thought King Kong was a cathartic "excorcise the ghosts of LOTR" vanity project, but the f***ing dam busters? Jesus wept...........

O rly? All the reports I read directly implied he was directing, not producing it.
Admittedly, non explicitly said he was going to direct, but neither did they say he was going to produce.
Either way, its another example of an unneccessary remake.
