It The Clown

raggy (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 16th February 2006, 15:05

Was there a film ever created from this Stephen King novel?

A few of my m8s sed they saw it when they were little. If they did, all records of it ever existing have been erased.

Has anyone seen it, own a copy or know if I could ever find a copy of it? :/

*Gosh* if only there was a database on the Internet dedicated to movies! ;)

O RLY?

www.imdb.com/title/tt0099864/ Made as a TV movie in 1990 and shown quite a few times on channel 4 in the 1990s.

It`s out on DVD in Region 1 (Edit: it`ll cost less than £7 including P&P if you search for it on Amazon.co.uk and get it from the Used and New section).

There was a made-for-tv movie that is pretty eery
IT is actually one of the few, good Stephen King film transitions, although it does descend into silliness at the end.
I had a little google but couldn`t find a DVD. good luck

It is worth buying, for one thing its a tv mini series movie, so its about four hours long.
Also, clowns are scary - that`s a fact. And one of the Waltons is in it.

Yeah, it`s quite good and faithful to the book; I`d get it, it`s only a couple of quid and it`d be worth it to re-live memories.

I can`t remember it being particularly scary though, with the exception of "They all float down here, and when you`re down here you`ll float too!".
(Edit: And the fact it`s got a flipping CLOWN in it, cheers Whoot you bastard! :D)

The book is significantly more hardcore than the tv movie.

Also the TV movie is a two parter joined into one and you can really see where the join is. The first part with the kids is superb, but as soon as Hooperman and John Boy Walton start getting major screen time, it goes downhill pretty quickly, with a fairly s***ty ending.

Having said that, we watched it, in the dark on halloween when we were 11 or 12 and it really shat us up. The first half is still pretty eerie.

Its also good, like stand by me, for spotting the `before they were famous` young uns.
