Page 1 of Buying DVDs from America
DVDs & Films Forum
Im off on holiday with the family to america and thought Id use the opportunity to but some new DVD titles. Can anybody tell me of any
known problems buying from america,
I know about region codes but what about pal ect
All US discs are in "NTSC" format, as opposed to PAL, so just make sure you have the facilities to play back this forma (as a guide, most tellies built in, say, the last 5 years or so should be fine).
Also watch out for import taxes. Check out http://www.hmce.gov.uk/bus/regions/dutyrate.htm for a guide to what you can import personally before attracting the attention of HM Customs - note this is a lot higher than the £18 maximum for buying online from the US.
Have a nice time ! Whereabouts are you going ?

RE: reply to Rich Goodman from biffter
According to:-
http://www.lgdvd.co.uk/
the 3350 converts NTSC to PAL 50, so your TV should display R1 DVDs fine with this option on.
Thanks for the help you guys I can now buy with confidence
Have a nice time, and please ensure you punch Mickey Mouse on the nose from me, please ;-)
