SFA @ PLAY

fac63 (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 24th July 2001, 19:41

Has anyone received their copy of SFA`s Rings Around The World DVD from play247? I pre-ordered mine over a week before it`s release date(yesterday) but yesterday the item said `awaiting delivery of stock` whereas today it reads `temporarily out of stock`?! This is the first time I have bothered to pre-order anything from play and it will certainly be the last, contacted their customer services by phone and just got `erm, erm, it`s none come in yet`. Obviously, the man don`t give a f***!

Yeah, yeah clayts, just noticed, this should have probably gone in retailer reviews, but what the hell?!

I suspect they`ve been inundated with orders for this. I had an email saying it had been despatched (on the 23rd) but it hasn`t got to me yet. I heard it`s been nominated for the Mercury prize as well...wonder how this is as it`s only been out for 2 days.

All I can say is that if you are a fan it will be worth the wait.

I am not a fan, more of a part time listener and it is corkin`

All albums should be like this.

Happy listening/watching,

Andrew.

ps:I payed £18.99 at HMV and have it in my clammy grasp as I speak. What price are you paying and is the hassle worth the saving?

The price I`m supposedly going to pay at play is £13.99, I was going to buy a copy today from a high street store, but out of principle I decided against Virgin`s rip-off price of £18.99, while MVC had sold out, bollocks. I saw a bit of one of the videos last weekend when mtv2 were showing all of RATW, but I didn`t want to watch the whole thing and `spoil` the dvd experience.

Mine`s arrived!! (£13.99)...seems a good idea to order things like this from `Play` before they come out. I`m going to have a pleasant night in in front of the box this evening - Spinal Tap Special Ed. has just arrived as well :-)

I`ve started giving my work address for delivery of all things DVD now. Can`t stand getting home to find a little card saying they tried to deliver something, leaving it up to a week before I can get to the sorting office to pick it up. Anyway fac, by the sounds of things you`ll have had it today as well.

I wish they`d used the same technology as used on the R1 Blair Witch 2 disc though, y`know with a CD on the B-side so that you don`t have to only watch it through your tv - either that or easily accessible mp3/music files on the disc which I could get at. *sigh*

Otherwise, pretty damn impressive (lovely menus too...) but - dammit - how am I going to listen to it on the way to work? :)
