Can anyone help clear-up the "is it, or is it not cut" debate over Predator, by telling us (those who have the R1 copy) the differences between the US and UK versions. Thanks

UK DVD of Predator was pre-cut by Fox, details:

23:43 - Dutch (Schwarzenegger) fires a mortar into a hut - we don`t see a
man projected into the air;

24:06 - Similar shot, with a scream being affected by the edit;

24:16 - 6 shots cut, removing a man in flames shot by Dillon (Carl
Weathers), followed by him warning Dutch of an enemy, which is then shot by
both (a shot presented the soldier being pierced by bullets, from behind);

24:40 - When the helicopter in which the Russians where about to escape is
blown away, we don`t get to see a man falling out, in flames;

24:51 - After an explosion, a scene is cut in which two men are projected
in the air, falling down on the water;

25:17 - A soldier on a tree is shot by a machine gun. Two shots of him
falling down are cut, including one with him partially burning;

25:27 - Billy (Sonny Landham) shots two soldiers, amongst explosives. One
is burned by the flames, but we don`t see any of this;

25:45 - The famous "stick around!" scene is removed. Three shots are cut:
the enemy approaches from behind, Dutch turns around and throws the knife,
and then says the one-liner. They left the enemy entering the frame though.
The audience should think it`s one of the good guys following the leader?
We can still hear part of the scream that Scharzenegger makes while he
throws the weapon;

1:08:22 - When Mac (Bill Duke) is killed by the predator we don`t get to
see a shot taken from a low angle, in which his head is dripping blood and
his body jerks;

1:10:10 - Other famous shot is almost totally removed: when Dillon`s arm
falls to the ground we don`t see two shots of it still firing the machine
gun and a third shot, in the middle, of his face reacting to the pain.
There`s only a brief moment of the arm hitting the ground left.

That list also applies to the R4 version.

How come there`s so many different versions of films that go around the world? I understand what goes on but in the UK there`s so many different versions of the same film..Eraser for instance.
I have predator on VHS which I recorded off the telly YEARS ago and I`m pretty sure it has all the scenes mentioned above. I know for a fact it has the "stick around" scene in it. That`s classic Arnie humour.

I dont know what copy you saw....but the UK version has ALL OF THOSE SCENES IN IT !!!!!

I have the proper video, which I`ve watched about a million times, and all those scenes you mentioned are in it.

Maybe you saw a BBC version, where they cut bits because there showing it at 9.00pm.

But believe me, those bits are in it.

Yes the official release on VHS is uncut.
Well the original rental release was but am not sure about subsequent sellthru releases.

The TV version (ITV) did have some cuts made. I know the `severed arm` scene was missing as I noticed this straight away. Can`t remember anymore though.

What mystifys me is why were these cuts made?
They`re just run of the mill stuff, they`re not that bad.
I`m sure there are movies that have a lot worse scenes that are not cut.

The distributor messed up with the release and issued the cut version. BBFC had nothing to do with it as they have already passed the uncut version.

Anyway we all know that Predator is cut for region 2. However what about Predator 2? Is this cut and if so which regions?

cw2000 has the cuts *in the DVD* right.

Just b/c they`re in *a* VHS version, what makes you think they`re not removed on the DVD.

Its the studio cutting the movie for release. Not the censors.

Look at it this way. Go rush out and buy the box set. Then go rush out and buy "Predator: fandabulous uncut version" when that comes out.

Then get "Predator: Special Edition". Includes previously unseen interview footage of Arnie sitting having a dump reading the Daily Mirror.
