LOTR Return of the King SE

Is anyone else slightly let down by the S/E version?
Compared to the other 2 S/E versions, the new scenes just don`t seem to fit in!

Yeah, it`s a less successful Expansion than the previous two.

Fellowship had some great character moments.
The Two Towers was improved immensely, and Faramir`s character was completely fleshed out.

With Return of the King, some scenes are just "extended" without reaching any other angle, but they are quite cool (Paths of the Dead). Mouth of Sauron is pointless the way the film is structured, but I`m glad they put it in.

Still a brilliant film either way 8)

I feel the same. The first two were much improved by the additions, especially TTT (which is actually a decent film in its extended form), but ROTK is a bit hit and miss. I like the Saruman stuff, but the whole thing with Frodo, Sam and the Orcs was just bad. I mean, they had pink skin clerly visible ffs. I didn`t mind the Mouth of Suron, but it did bugger up the continuity in the following shot. Good DVD set though.

just finished watching it. watched all the extras on disks 3/4 too, i havent with the other two, although ive seen most of them will have to go back and see them all. i havent read the books but from what i know the mouth of sauron stuff is more effective in the books, although it was really good to see it.

having watched the extras you do see how massive this one film was, never mind the other two. but i think the ee is fantastic and i look forward to seeing it in context with the other two.
